In some camps, the owners distance themselves from the operation. Not so with Uncle Speedy (Mark) and Aunt Bernice. They know every child by name and as parents themselves, they are sensitive to the “ups and downs” of today’s youth. Mark and Bernice are always out on campus, actually coaching or cheering for a team. Campers appreciate their total dedication, and as a result, they feel comfortable and safe.

Mark started in 1957 as a Nock-A-Mixon camper and then progressed to counselor, athletic director, division leader, head counselor, and assistant director.

Bernice, a teacher with a Masters in Education, began her career in 1970 at Nock-A-Mixon. She met Mark at camp, they married and realized that camping was to be their lives. In 1981, they purchased the camp.

Their commitment is strong and their efforts are highly regarded. For years now, families have spoken so highly of Nock-A-Mixon that camp has been fully enrolled and some prospective campers placed on the waiting list. What better testimonial can one give to a summer camp?
