Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in a staff position. Working at summer camp can be a life changing experience. The experiences shared, the relationships
made, and the self-satisfaction gained cannot be matched in any other job.
It is unforgettable.

Camp Nock-A-Mixon is a private, coed, residential camp located in Eastern
Pennsylvania (Bucks County), not far from New York City, Atlantic City and
Philadelphia. We have approximately 450 children ages 7-16. We are looking
for Unit Leaders, Cabin Counselors, and Activity Specialists to work for 8 weeks (counting orientation) beginning roughly June 22, and ending Saturday, August 16.
No
experience is necessary - patience, understanding, and leadership qualities
are essential. We are looking for motivated, energetic, enthusiastic counselors
to help children enjoy their time away from home. We also expect our staff
to be good role models. Counselors work at activities they most enjoy and
have experience in.

The Camp Counselor is responsible for the safety, health,
and happiness of children that attend camp for the entire 7 week session. All staff members attend a pre-camp training orientation
(conducted by experienced educators) that touches upon many topics that involve working with children. Areas discussed are leadership,
accident prevention, how to plan a lesson, how to teach an activity, supervision, child abuse, being a role model, why children
behave the way they do, caring, independence, self esteem, teamwork, child development, self control, discipline, health concerns,
coaching techniques, homesickness, emergency procedures, etc. The work at camp is trying but the experience gained is immeasurable.

Do you know how great it feels
to teach a child to swim, hit a ball...make them smile? This is a great experience at a fantastic facility! We have many testimonials
from students who have worked at camp and felt they learned more in this environment than they had in any one class. We have
had young teachers who felt they were much better educators after working at camp for a summer.
Many college students/counselors have also arranged internship credits.
Check with your Department Heads and Professors.

you do have and you have the opportunity to improve the flaws you might
have."
"Camp is where you learn responsibility. The kids are your responsibility.
Their health and their summer is up to you."
"The best part of camp is when you get a smile from a child who never
smiles at anyone."
"The best part of camp is when you get a thank you from a kid who
never thanks anyone."
"...All I could do was wonder how I was going to make it through
an entire summer living with 15 12-year olds. And now, I'm wondering how
I'm going to make it through the next 10 months without them..."
