- 1-What are the Accommodations like?
- Modern cabins with private bathrooms and showers. You will not need to go outside in order to use the bathroom.
- 2 - How many days off will I get?
- We offer 4 off days and 1 personal day during the 7 weeks of camp. Each off day consists of 30 hours lasting from 6 PM until 12 Midnight the following night.
- 3 - What should I pack?
- A suggested packing list will be sent to you once you have secured a position with Nock-A-Mixon.
- 4 - Will I have Internet and Phone access?
- Yes, we have computers with Internet access in our Counselor's Lounge. Counselors may use those computers and their cells phones during their off time.
- 5 - Do counselors live in cabins?
- Yes. Supervision is extremely important, so we assign a minimum of three counselors to each cabin of approximately 8-15 campers. Many cabins have a fourth counselor as well.
- 6 - How will I do laundry?
- Counselors can send their laundry along with their cabin for no charge or they can do their laundry during their free time in our pay machines.
- 7 - What are the campers like?
- Campers are primarily from upper middle class families from the east coast and range in age from 6-16. Though they have a wide range of interests and each have their own personality, they all come to share in an enjoyable summer with their bunkmates and counselors.
- 8 - Is there a staff uniform?
- Camp Nock-A-Mixon has no uniform for campers or counselors. You are able to wear your own clothes. The camp provides you a staff shirt to wear on out of camp trips.
- 9 - What is the drug and alcohol policy?
- As a counselor, you are unable to keep the campers safe and happy nor can you be a proper role model while under the influence. Therefore the use of drugs and alcohol is strictly forbidden.
- 10 - How much do I get paid?
- Salaries range from $1,800 to $2,250 depending on year in school and experience. Don’t forget, once you get to camp, you won’t have any expenses. Room, board and laundry service are all included as part of camp.
